Classic F1, Classic Sportscars, Classic GTs, and Belcar made up the line up at Zolder a few weeks back for the FIA historic masters weekend in the Belgium sun. The old F1 cars were rather splendid, and the Belcar was the first time i’ve seen CN Cars in person. They look like slightly out of proportion LMP2s, but are rapid, and must be a great entry into prototype racing. Hopefully they make their way to the UK soon.
(for those of you thinking you’ve seen these before, you might have, I buried them in a post about a european roadtrip, but just found them and thought they merited their own post).
The other Yardley Mclaren. Apparently they paid $30,000 to be the title sponsor that year.
Oppo in a classic F1 car. Awesome
Excuse the grainy photo, only had the big lens on the camera, so this is a mobile shot. I think I need a better phone camera.
This Saker had a ‘mare in the Belcar race, but looked cool doing it at least.
Ecoboost Mustang. Im no huge V8 lover, but I have to say I wasn’t exactly enamoured with the noise of this Ecoboost. V8 just seems more ‘right’
Glowing brakes into the sun don’t show up so great. Still, the M235i cup must have been a huge seller for BMW, between the Belcar and VLN series.
Daytona Coupe recreation had a little accident with the barrier in its race.

Awesome, though I think I’ve already said that last time. The Daytona looks repairable since it is a fibreglass reproduction by the looks of it, not that those are cheap, but it is probably an easier fix than beating thin aluminium back to shape.

I want those cars now.

Good choice, that car surely has the most pimp sidepod sponsor placement in the history of motorsport.

Great work as always, thanks for sharing. Too bad about the Range Rover in that mobile shot, if it wasn’t there you could almost pass the shot off as an intentional “vintage” effect.

Argh, maybe i should crop it tighter to hide the Range. I actually spotted that up at the Eurotunnel on my way home.

Blancpain at Brands this weekend yeah?

Yeah and the chap who owns it, Leo Voyazides is not short of cash, and has at least 3 other FIA spec race cars. And yeah its a recreation so its not quite as painful as if one of the original 6 had a bump.

Im thinking Thruxton BTCC as never been to Thruxton and then Silverstone the week after for the Endurance Series.

So I just googled him and found out he also has/had a Cobra, a GT40 and a Lola T70. I think I’m slightly jealous...

And a Ford Falcon. Yep, he’s pretty much got this whole Historic Racing thing nailed.

Good shout, I’ve never been to Thruxton either. Strange as it’s one if the closer ones. The lure of the ultracar sports club was too much for me not to go to Brands.

Shit man, these are great pictures! Sooooo sharp! I need a lens like that!
Let me guess: Canon 70-200 2.8 IS??? Really , really nice... I wish I had the gear to get sharp pics like this :)
I spent WAY too much on my cars already, and my wife would hate it if I upgrade my zoom lens haha
But damn beautiful pics!

Thanks! Yeah good glass makes so much difference. I remember the first time I used it in anger i was blown away by the quality.
Nope, its the other super popular Canon L series zoom lens, the 100-400L series 1, the push pull one.
Hmm, yeah its not a subtle purchase to sneak past with too, it comes in a big ole box.

Captive North American here: From what I have seen on BTCC DVDs from the 90s and now Youtube videos, good call on going to Thruxton for the BTCC race. Seems like they always put on a good show.

Apart from ridiculous levels of sunburn Thurxton was awesome, with all the support races being very enjoyable as well as the three main btcc races. Plus, its Silverstone this weekend for the Blancpain Endurance Series, with even more GT3 cars, so that seemed more fun.

I need to catch up on BTCC stuff on youtube soon....
